Meet the inspiring engineers supporting the Architecture Centre's Bridge150 Festival:

 
















Fiona Gleed
Fiona is a Chartered Structural Engineer and Lecturer at UWE. After graduating she spent 10 years working for Arup on projects from Communications Towers in the Falkland Islands, to the Regional Shopping Centre just outside Bristol at Cribbs Causeway. 
Fiona is committed to educating a diverse engineering workforce. She is involved in careers guidance and schools outreach work, encouraging the widest range of individuals to consider a career in engineering.




















Kunal Kansara
Kunal is a chartered engineer and holds a PhD in structural engineering. Since 2002, Kunal has worked as a University Lecturer, an Engineering Scientist and a Specialist Consultant on challenging professional and research projects involving analysis, design, assessment, health monitoring, rehabilitation and performance evaluation of bridges. Presently he works at Mouchel, where he provides consultancy services on bridge infrastructure projects.

Kunal believes bridge design is an art of manipulating gravity yet respecting all the rules set by Mother Nature with infinite powers. To him, every bridge is a kind of poetry, carved in mathematics and geometry, portraying the tribute of the humanity to Mother Nature in their struggle to survive and prosper against all the odds.

 



















Kaloyana Kostova
Kaloyana is a senior engineer at Tony Gee and Partners and currently finishing her doctoral research in Civil Engineering at the University of Bath. She is chartered with the Institution of Civil Engineers and has 10 years postgraduate experience mainly in the design and maintenance of bridge structures. Over the last 5 years she has also been involved in promoting engineering at schools and sharing her passion for science and research as a STEM Ambassador.

 




















Jamie Siggers
Jamie is an Associate Director at WSP as a Chartered Structural and Civil Engineer with over 15 years’ experience as a consultant in the buildings construction industry. Jamie has a particular interest in sustainable building design and retrofit, timber engineering, heritage building conservation.


He has experience covering every stage of building project procurement, design and development on a wide range of projects, from £1 million to £125 million in value, involving new build, refurbishment and sustainable design, in many sectors including commercial, retail, education, health, sports and leisure and tall buildings.

He is an Industrial liaison tutor at both the Universities of Bath and Bristol and is also a part-time teaching fellow in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the University of Bath, predominantly as a Structural Engineering tutor for the joint architectural and engineering 4th year "Basil Spence" project during October and November .

He is currently approaching the end of a 5 year mission to refurbish and retrofit his Victorian townhouse to modern energy and water saving standards and sits on the local committees of the fbe and Constructing Excellence.
